Well with everything that has been going on in my life since my 92 year old father came to live with us, I finally managed to put the closing words to Book 5 in the series, this doesn’t mean it is finished but its the first stage, get the bones of the story down.
Hardbacks have arrived, limited supply and more ordered, these Hardbacks will become collectors pieces, signed not only by me but some of the characters in the series, this will look good as a boxed set when all 7 are printed.
Book 2 has to be edited, my lovely editor aka Lesley has obviously been very busy caring for Dad so hasn’t had much time to get back onto it!
My methodology is like this
Chapter layout for the entire series
Gets the bones down for each book then
Listen to the story, my computer will read it to me
Make any obvious changes while I’m doing this
The a manual pass through the book, looking at style sheet (make sure the right words have capitals etc.)
Check for the correct sequence of events, the right character is on the right vessel, or place at the right time
Look at the layout, right indents etc., paragraphs, dialogue
Get the Computer to read it again, just listen and se if it all makes sense
Final pass through manually, look for words that are spelt correctly but are the wrong words etc.
Pass to Lesley
Off to Publisher.
